Certified mail? Really? Your going to start with certified mail? Yes, yes, actually I am. I am grateful for certified mail. I understand it's a little far fetched for my first/second post as something I am grateful for, but I have good reason.
Long long ago at a very different time in my life, I was bewitched by an extremely cute car named Audi. Many people have heard of my adventures with Audi (aka Beast). I think you can infer by the nickname that the car was not as cute on the inside as it was on the outside. I sincerely believe this car was personally handcrafted by Satan himself.
On one particular occasion, Janae, Audi, and I headed to Las Vegas for a family function. During my trip, as I rounded a round-about, the Audi dies. You must be joking me. Audi has new tires, transmission, top, and lots of other things. Besides its many new parts I am not even in my home state. WTF! According to Eurpoean House for Imports, it is a timing belt failure. Many tears insue. Much money is paid.
Two or so months later, I recieve settlement information in the mail. Audi and Volkswagon had been sued because of malfunctions in timing belts that had not been properly disclosed or recalled and I was either entitled to A) a new timing belt free of charge, or B) a reimbursment of all costs related to repair of my vehicle due to a timing belt failure. YES! A remedy! I was so so so happy, because Audi repair costs are astronomical.
I sent the information requested to the settlement administrator in my case one month prior to the due date and I sent it certified! I know that when you want something to be guaranteed to be received and signed for, you send it certified.
Yesterday, I recieved a letter from my letter from the settlement administrator that my claim had not been submitted by the due date and is now insuffiecient for that reason. Funny thing, I had saved my certfied mail reciept. According to the United States Postal Service, my claim was actually recieved 33 days BEFORE the due date!
Thank you United State Postal Service for delivering my letter and having had it actually signed for. I have actual physical evidence it was recieved. That rocks my world especially when large companies play hard ball for money.
I am grateful for certified mail, it just saved me $3500.
