Hmmmm.

I saw this on another blog and kinda dug the idea…..

Dear 12 Year Old Self,

Stop wearing that bright yellow tech vest, I know it’s so in right now, but you will think its ugly in ten years. Sorry about the braces, but hey, you will get those off next year on the same day as Janae. Don’t worry so much about what people think; it’s ok to be yourself. Especially don’t worry about what boys think. They will be lame and continue to get much MUCH more lame until farther down the road, like mid-college. Trust your own instincts about the opposite sex, and when you go to college the first time, that boy you think you really love is going to give you some tough lessons and very real heart ache, but you are going to realize very important things along that journey. Don’t be angry, take it for what it is – lessons on life.

Don’t lie to police officers. Be free. Listen to your heart. On January 1, 2008 don’t regret anything; it’s going to be fine. This day is really important. Be strong and move on with the determination to be different. People will not always be nice, friends leave more often then they stay, your faith in god will dwindle and return, and you will make mistakes-some even gargantuan. Keep hanging out with Janae. Have sososososo much fun in college! Academia will always be there, fun might not. Just be happy and live in the moment, even if you don’t know exactly where your yellow brick road is taking you. Oh, and whatever you do, when that guy you’ve been totally digging goes in for the kiss on the first date, forget rules and just kiss him back – it’ll change your life baby!

Love,

You in Ten Years

(I am in no place to give advice to my 12 year old self, but it was fun nonetheless. It’s a fun little look back. Today I am grateful for reminiscence:) )
